Trancing With Armin Van Buuren


One of the most popular DJs to make it to the DJ Top 100 poll three times in a row is none other than Armin Van Buuren. For more than 13 years, Armin has been a producer and dance music DJ. His major achievements include the 2008 Burna Cultuur Pop Award, which was followed by the Best Trance Artist Award from Beatport Music in recognition of his national and international success. He also won the 2009 Best European DJ IDMA Award and was voted the most popular DJ by Australia's Sony inthemix DJ Poll.

Armin won the most prestigious 'Gouden Harp, the highest distinction awarded to a Dutch artist, and soon became the most influential trance act of the decade. His long list of awards is enough to fill an entire book. In 2006, he won the Best Compilation award for 'A State of Trance, and the 'Best Album' for 'Shivers' at the Dutch Release Dance Awards and Edison Awards as well. He won the 'Best European DJ' award in 2007 and for five years in a row bagged the 'Best Mix Radio Show' at the Miami Winter Music Conference for 'A State Of Trance' that is broadcasted on 40 FM stations and internet radio as well. His single, 'Rush Hour' was used as the anthem for the UEFA European Youth Championship.

Armin's latest album, 'Imagine' was number one on the Dutch Album Top 100 Chart, becoming the first dance producer to accomplish the feat. His DVD, 'Armin Only DVD', reached the number one spot within two weeks. 'Going Wrong' from the same album entered at the fifth spot in the Dutch Singles Chart. Armin made it to the Dutch Top 10 most viewed videos of all time with his music video 'In & Out of Love' with singer Sharon den Adel. Armin is known to pick up tracks only that he takes a liking to and then compiles it, making them as original as possible. Some of his popular tracks include those for the cult TWV series 24, Faithless, BT, Kerli, and Motorcycle.

Armin attributes his success to his fans and professes music to mean the most. His weekly 2-hour radio show, 'A State of Trance', is keenly followed by over 10 million EDM fans, where he delivers the best selection of trance and progressive music over the air despite his tight schedule. His 400th show was a marathon 72-hour live broadcast covering three events in the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands.

Armin continues to satisfy his fans with live recordings of his gigs at Armada parties in Amnesia, Ibiza, bringing out a selection of fresh and exclusive tracks released under the 'Universal Religion' series. Armin became the first Dutch DJ to draw over 35,000 people to the Los Angeles Sports Arena at the New Year's Eve show. He created the Armada music label in 2003 with Maykel Piron and David Lewis. The trio soon released tracks by the biggest names in trance, progressive, and house music, and organized many club nights as well. Armada still continues to produce top quality music.
